As I rolled out the body tray for one last examination before signing the death certificate, it seemed like a perfectly normal night. (Add a line here about your job and what you do and how it doesn't bother you in the least). I moved on to the next tray and as the lock clicked open, I glanced back at that first tray of the night.

Something was wrong. There was a puddle of blood on the floor and the body was gone. ”Is anyone here?” I called out into the pitch black morgue.

There was no answer.

I turned off my flashlight to prevent myself from being seen. Suddenly, dark red eyes flickered open in front of me. I switched on my flashlight. There it was.

It was only supposed to be a myth but it I learned then, too late, that it was not. It was bloody, beaten, and battered. Mosquitoes flew (adverb) around it. I felt a chill run down my spine. It started to stumble towards me.

I picked up my dissecting knife and thrust it at the creature’s throat but it was of no use. It grabbed my arm and started to chew at it. It was my arm or my life. I sliced my arm and it ripped off cleanly. Blood was rushing out and I started to feel lightheaded. I darted out the door, up the stairs, and ran into the hospital nursery. I blocked the door with chairs and tables. I needed time to think.

I was clearly in trouble. I had lost too much blood and I knew that if I didn’t get out and find help quickly, I would die. I had two choices. I could try and find the exit or jump out the window. I made my choice it was risky but the fastest way out(Fix this run-on sentences and make it more suspenseful). I opened the window.

The door to the nursery burst open with a bang, and I knew I had no choice. Jim, you have to jump now, I thought to myself. I leaped out and screamed.

I hit the floor (the floor? Didn't you jump out the window?) with immense impact and I felt paralyzed. I couldn’t feel any of the limbs in my body. I said my goodbye prayers, thinking that I would die. The sun began to rise and doctors started to arrive at the hospital.

I fainted. My body could take no more and I went into an eternal sleep.
